Glove Factory Studios is a unique workspace environment in Holt, Wiltshire, just 9 miles from Bath. Surrounded by acres of rolling countryside, the studios are set in a lovingly restored old industrial tanning and glove-making factory.

Complete with Wild Herb at The Field Kitchen café and Glove Dippers cold-water swimming club, Glove Factory Studios is a place that welcomes contrast, where rural meets urban, work meets play and old meets new. A mini rural rebellion made up of individuals who take to the countryside; not to slow down or escape, but to spread out, breathe freely and make good things happen.

Sensitively designed workspace, flooded with natural light and set in glorious rural landscape, with all the modern benefits of an urban experience. Leather factory

After years of planning and restoration consultation, we formed a partnership to bring the adjoining industrial heritage buildings into the Glove Factory Studios umbrella. We are carefully working our way to restoring the buildings to create a wider collection of studio workspaces with garden courtyards between the streetscapes that link the buildings. It is an exciting next chapter in our story.

A jaw dropping sculpture has ascended the visual of our landscape to another level here at Glove Factory Studios.

The installation of 'The Sun King Dreams of Peace (Bronze)' by Emily Young at Glove Factory Studios is the first time, the largest bronze cast by Emily Young to date, has been displayed anywhere in the world.

The bronze cast has been fabricated at Wolf and Stone Foundry in Dorset by Anthony Stone. Emily and Anthony worked together on the finish of this monumental sculpture, using heat and chemical patination techniques to create colour and variation which speaks some of the same language of the stone original, whilst echoing Emily’s interest in the age and history of materials.

"The sun never sleeps: does he dream of the infinite night of the heat death of the universe? He does his best to keep things calm on Earth, the occasional flare, but a good consistency in the main. There is constancy in his dance, always in motion. Our sun star turns in his perfectly attuned activity to keep in time and place with the rest of the star system in which he and we have survived, for now. Our solar system and galaxy are a dance - of constancy and minimum effort: a balance of energies perfectly tuned to keep the beautiful wheeling through our defined section of the universe. slowly pulling the whole into a future, out of a past. We humans have stepped out of this balance, to the whole planet’s life systems detriment, and this sculpture is a manifestation of my profound respect and mourning for what we are losing, have lost."

‘The Sun King Dreams of Peace’ was carved from Giallo di Siena marble in 2021 and weighs 3.4 tons.

🦆 The ducks are enjoying front row seats, taking in @sean_henry_ ‘Seated Figure’

This is the last weekend you will be able to experience this phenominal art work at @glovefactorystudios.

This profound sculpture joins a collection of works by @sean_henry_ in an exhibition at Ely Cathedral, curated by Jacqualine Cresswell, entitled ‘Am I My Brother’s Keeper?’. The exhibition opens 27th April 2024. Jacquiline Creswell explains, “In a world so often plagued by division and indifference, the question ‘Am I my brother’s keeper?’ can be interpreted as an enquiry into one’s moral responsibility towards others.”

Thank you to @sean_henry_ for the kind loan over the past year.

Well, that had all the makings of a truly beautiful friendship.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to ‘Seated Figure’ by @sean_henry_

This weekend is your last chance to get a glimpse, up@close and personal, of this phenomenal work.

This remarkable piece has become a part of our landscape, easily fooling visitors to @wildherbatthefieldkitchen who wonder “what on earth is that man doing out there and isn’t he getting cold?” Until they walk out with steaming coffee in hand to find he’s 3m tall!

@glovedippers members have enjoyed his protective gaze, keeping an eye on them in dipping temperatures with a steely look when they know that they’ve been in too long.

Our enormous thanks to @sean_henry_ for the kind loan of this incredible work. We are very sad to see him go.

‘Seated Figure’ moves to an exhibition of Sean’s, ‘Am I My Brother’s Keeper?’ curated by Jacqueline Creswell at Ely Catherdral on 27 April 2024.

Thank you Sean 🙏🏻 and thank you to everyone who came to see ‘Seated Figure’ while we had him.
