Come on over to see the latest exhibition at The Field Kitchen.
‘Not to Scale’ is a series of architectural illustrations by Robert Shaw.
This series of posters derive from my interest in architecture and show some of my favourite buildings.
This Modernist set highlights heroic architecture from post-war Britain (plus the Arndale Centre, which isn’t that heroic to be honest, though a landmark in Manchester nevertheless).
The series includes Erno Goldfinger’s concrete cliff-face in Poplar – Balfron Tower (the younger sister of Trellick Tower) and Great Arthur House on the Golden Lane Estate.
These are simple renderings, often drawn as the architect imagined them rather in their final built form.

The posters are beautifully printed on fine art paper and available to buy in three sizes: A2/A1/70 x 50mm. The exhibition runs at The Field Kitchen until the end of March 2020.
Robert is a founding partner at Northbank Design, based here at Glove Factory Studios.
