Rooster Talks: Playing To Your Audience, with Andy Burden

Friday 8th December
9am

Free event Book via Eventbrite

Join us in the Club Room 9am Friday 8th December for an entertaining breakfast talk by Andy Burden from The Natural Theatre Company.

We look forward to welcoming Andy Burden as our final 2023 Rooster Talks host, to bring this year’s series to a close with an engaging talk that promises to deliver everything The Natural Theatre Company stand for.

Andy hosted a Rooster Talk at Glove Factory Studios a few years ago and we are thrilled to have him back. We can guarantee that this presentation will be every bit an intellectual delight, mischievous, hugely entertaining, utterly splendid, and peppered with transgressive stuff!

Andy will share his insights and experiences on being a theatre manager in the oddest of times. How he helped to keep the show on the road when a cloud had crept over the theatre industry and laughter and satire were horribly out of step with the national mood. We shudder as we recall those ‘stay at home’ mantras and are intrigued to hear how The Natural Theatre Company survived and what lessons Andy can pass on that may help you face and overcome your worst business nightmare.

The Natural Theatre Company are world-leaders in Street Theatre, taking joyful live interactive performance around the globe with a team of professionally trained actors and facilitators. They perform at festivals (Glastonbury, Larmer Tree, Shambala, Melbourne Arts Festival, Arts by the Sea), private events, large scale events (e.g. 2022 Commonwealth Games, 2021 Olympics and Paralympics, Add Dhabi Grand Prix, Royal Ascot), in addition to residencies at the Roman Baths and National Trust historic sites.

Alongside their regular street theatre gigs and performance residencies, The Naturals regularly run participatory street theatre projects with groups from across the country, with celebrate history of place, diversity of spirit, and identity of community.

Street theatre is arguably the oldest form of theatre in existence. It is a form of theatrical performance and presentation in outdoor public spaces without a specific paying audience. How on earth do you make a profitable business out of that? Come and find out.

Delicious welcome teas, coffees and Wild Herb at The Field Kitchen breakfast platters on arrival.

This is a FREE event however please book to reserve your seat.

We hope to see you there!
