Studio members Bowline have launched a 2017 calendar to celebrate the beauty of the South West region.
The calendar is a first of its kind, having been put together entirely from photos shared via the Instagram account @SWisBest, which promotes tourism and travel in the six South West counties.
The Instagram account was set up by Jess Jeary of Bowline, when she moved back to the area two years ago from London. Jess continues to be amazed at the popularity of the account:
“I started using the motto ‘South West is Best’ when I moved back from London and decided to turn it into an Instagram feed called SWisBest. At first I shared our own travels, inviting people to follow and share their own images using the hashtag #SWisBEST.
After six months, beautiful images were starting to be shared daily and the account now has nearly 25,000 followers, with over 200,000 #SWisBEST mentions, which is incredible engagement and really shows we’ve tapped into peoples love of the West Country.”
“We’ve also partnered with local businesses like Kilver Court in Somerset and South West Distillery in Cornwall to run social competitions and promotions.”
The Instagram account has been praised by its followers as a source of inspiration for anyone looking to get out and about. Valentina Scarpa Bandelloni (@vsb126) says,
“I always look at all the pictures posted, I like to define this social network as my local “Lonely Planet” guide.”
The calendar showcases the most stunning images submitted over the last year from a mix of professional and amateur photographers. It’s made up of 36 photographs of the Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset regions and also recommends the best places to eat, drink, shop sleep and stay in each county.
The calendar is retailing at £9.99 and all profits made from sales will go to a charity chosen by #SWisBEST followers. If you’d like to pick up a copy you can visit www.southwestisbest.co.uk or pop into The Field Kitchen.
