Rewind to 1960s and 70s when Sherry held an impressive presence in the wine market. Sadly, as Sherry consumers aged, so commercialisation of the product lost its connection with the origin of the vineyards and the quality of the soil.
Fast forward to today and there’s a new team exploring every corner of the southernmost point of Andalucia in search of winemakers committed to excellence.
Say hello to the Diatomists – a wine brand challenging the status quo in Jerez.
Join us in the Club Room for a wonderfully relaxed and informative evening with the Diatomists co-founder Antonio Morenes Bertran, sampling crisp Palominos to bold Olorosos from the young brand who are realigning focus away from the bodega, and back to the soil and distinct terroirs.
Diatomists represent a new wave of winemakers who are determined to put the soil and the fruit back in the spotlight, producing wine that clearly reflects the vines’ terroir alongside the solera in which it matured: wine that proves that whilst quality and consistency are achieved through the bodega, excellence is in the soil.
“The solera system put the region on the map, we are here to prove that unique exceptional soil produces unique exceptional wine.” The Diatomists
The talented chefs at Wild Herb at The Field Kitchen will provide nibbles prepared in line with the Diatomists tasting notes to accompany the Sherry’s you will be sampling.
You can contact Diatomists to pre-order wines for collection at the event.
Wines will be available to order at the event for next day delivery or by Monday 22nd.
Please arrive by 6pm for the presentation that will begin at 6:15pm.
Each bottle tells a different story and we can’t wait to raise a sunny glass of the Sherry regions of Jerez, with you!
