Business lawyer, company director and investor (and Glove Factory Studios member) Simon Clegg has over the past 20 years advised, and worked as an executive at a range of media, technology and brand communications businesses including start-ups through to SMEs in particular. Embarrassingly (he admits) in that 20 year period he’s seemingly only learned 8 things – mostly because people always seem to do the same things, or make the same mistakes. Key factors like ‘write it down’, equity or control, IP or not to IP, friends and family issues, come up time and time again.
Join us on Friday 6th May at Glove Factory Studios for an open session “20 and 8: aka, the things I wish I hadn’t had to learn the hard way – lessons from, and for, early stage businesses and SMEs”.
Simon’s session expands on these 8 lessons with a (not entirely) hypothetical company, Guava Marketing and its erstwhile owner managers.
Simon’s lawyering focuses on commercial business, how corporate and ‘IP’ and brands work and helping businesses be ready for investment. Simon’s work has included Enid Blyton’s Noddy and FIFA World Cup football media rights, through to TV and film production and financing, buying and selling businesses, publishing, lots of technology, fashion and retail. Simon is a highly experienced company director and holds an MBA from London Business School.
